Product Release: Dell vWorkspace Connector for iOS version 2.0

Good Day,

It is my pleasure to announce the release of the Dell vWorkspace Connector for iOS version 2.0. The Connector for iOS allows users to access a Windows or Linux virtual desktop from their iOS device using Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol; extending the productivity potential of your people. We have upgraded our platform support and improved performance features to this version of the Connector for iOSSee below for a complete list of what has been added.

  • Scrolling using gestures– When accessing a Windows application where scroll bars are present you can use two fingers to tap, hold and scroll the page up or down.
  • iPod/iPhone support– Connect to virtual desktops using your iPhone or iPod.
  • User Workspace Context– Administrators can use User Workspace Context to assign vWorkspace resources, such as published desktops or printers, as accessible only when connecting from an iOS device.
  • Support for Application Folders– Published applications and desktops are often organized into folders; a common practice the Connector for iOS now supports.
  • Support for config.xml– The config.xml file is used to automatically configure Connectors for a vWorkspace farm. The Connector for iOS 2.0 not only supports this function, but it is the first item requested when the Connector is initially launched, simplifying the user experience.
  • Broker Authentication - vWorkspace Broker Authentication increases the security of vWorkspace Secure Gateway by introducing an added layer of validation for the connecting user before establishing a session to the virtual desktop. The vWorkspace Connectors need to be aware of this validation layer in order to support the feature. This version of the Connector for iOS provides that functionality.

The vWorkspace Connector for iOS can be obtained from Apple's AppStore here, and installation is a breeze. From the AppStore search for "vWorkspace", click install/update on the vWorkspace object, and enter your credentials, if required.
